The Cynosure
Screenwriting Awards seeks to expand the scope of mainstream cinema by recognizing and rewarding feature-length scripts in two distinct categories: screenplays which feature compelling female
protagonists; and screenplays that showcase diversity (ethnicity, race, sexuality, disability, etc.). As the definition of cynosure
indicates, we are looking for scripts to serve as a
guide to an industry often lacking in diverse stories. Two (2) $3000 cash prizes will be awarded, one to the best screenplay
showcasing a strong female protagonist
and one to the best screenplay which promotes, represents or reflects diversity. Additional prizes will
be added, so be sure to visit the "Prizes" section
on the Contest page often.
Past judges for the Cynosure Screenwriting Awards include established actors,
managers and industry professionals from Fox Searchlight, Showtime, The
Jacobson Company, Paradigm Literary and Talent Agency, Icon Productions,
Crescendo Productions, New Regency Entertainment, The Steve Tisch Co.,
Oxygen, Mandate Pictures, Jersey Films, and DiNovi Pictures, to name just a
few.
